THE DUNLOPILLO HERITAGE

1926

 

Dunlopillo is registered by its parent company, Dunlop Ltd, three years before Dunlopillo Latex is invented. Dunlop Ltd is reowned worldwide as the inventor of pneumatic tyres, which has since been used in all kind of public transport even aircraft. The Dunlop brands is famous for many products, especially sporting goods such as badminton rackets, golf balls and golf shoes.

1929  

Led by Mr. E.A. Murphy, Dunlop scientists invent Dunlopillo latex foam. Dunlopillo Latex foam is the first of it’s kind to be used to pad seats in public trams, trains and trolley buses. The aircraft industry welcomes latex foam to pad cockpits and seats as well.

1931  
The first latex mattresses and pillows are produced. It is a huge success as they are the first mattresses and pillows that do not need to plumped, or turned so as to stay fresh and maintain their shapes.
1950's   Dunlopillo’s latex seats are installed in the refurbished House of Parliament in the UK.
1954  

Dr. Theo Lammers from the Institute of Hygiene, Gutenburg University, proves that latex foam has exceptionally high anti-bacterial properties, and is hygienically ideal for mattresses, superior to all exiting materials.

1955  
Dunlopillo achieves national fame when it’s latex is used to make a special seat for Donald Campbell’s waterspeed record-breaking craft, the Bluebird.
1960's  
With the installation of a highly advanced manufacturing system to produce Latex, Dunlopillo UK becomes the world’s leading brand of Latex mattresses.
1976  

PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia is established and a new factory was set up in Bekasi, a joint venture between Dunlop Slazenger and local partners. The factory produces latex foam mattresses for the Indonesia and Asian Region market.

1987  
Shirley Institute of Manchester reveals that Dunlopillo Latex has twice the ability to kill bed bugs compared to interior spring core mattresses.
1990's  
Dunlopillo was the first to combine nature’s perfect utilisation of space, the honeycomb arrangement, with the Individual Pocketed Spring (IPS) System.
1991  
Dunlopillo is awarded the Queen’s Award for export achievement in the UK.
1995  
Research from UK’s University of Leeds, Department of Microbiology confirms that Dunlopillo Latex is capable of killing 10 bacteria cell.
2001  
PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia is awarded the ISO 9001-2000 certification for the manufacturing of Latex Mattresses and their related products, the first of such certification to be awarded to a bedding manufacturer in Indonesia.
2002  
PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia starts exporting their Latex Mattresses and Latex Pillows to Australia, Japan and Korea.
2003  

PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia invented the New BIO - Latex technology for manufacturing latex, BIO LATEX technology produces latex products with distinctive yellow colouring and superior benefits compared to other ordinary latex products.

2004  

PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia is the first and the only bedding company awarded the SUPERBRAND certification in Indonesia.

The Sime Darby Group, though it’s wholly owned subsidiary Dunlopillo Holdings Sdn. Bhd., assumes ownership of the Dunlopillo trademark in 45 countries, including Indonesia.

 

2005  
PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia and Sime Darby Berhad conclude a joint venture to set up PT. Sime Dunlopillo Indonesia for the marketing and distribution of Dunlopillo Spring Mattresses in Indonesia.
2007  

In celebrating the 30 years anniversary, PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia made a sensational record breaking event: A MURI Record longest mattresses in indonesia with the size of 30 m x 2 m x 15 cm. Record was broken 17 August 2007.

As appreciation for the continuous supports from Dunlopillo users in Indonesia, PT. Dunlopillo Indonesia awarded 3 longest Dunlopillo latex mattress users with mattress replacements. The symbolic appreciation awards was given in November 2007 at Jakarta Convention Center. The winners are Mr. Robert - user of 26 years, Mr. Hadi - user of 26 years, and Mrs. Yenni - user of 24 years.

2008  

Broke another MURI (Indonesia Museum of World Record) as the First Gold Plated Spring Bed in the world, the gold plated spring mattress became and acknowledged as the world most expensive mattress.

Dunlopillo Indonesia proudly support INASleep (Indonesia Sleep Medicine Association) to promote healthy sleep.

2009  
Broke the third MURI (Indonesia Museum of World Record) as the First Mattress with Unique Design. The mattress(es) was produced in the form of Indonesia Independence date: 1, 7, 8, 4, and 5 (17 August 45) which symbolized the Indonesia Independence Day. The mattress showed the users that Dunlopillo latex mattress can be formed as requested while maintaining the quality and comfort of the mattress itself.
